About Ms Chakraborty
She did her Masters in Economics from Jadavpur University. She did post graduate training and M.Phil in assistive technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) from Oxford University and taught in Sydney University in an exchange programme.
Film making has always been a passion for her. She has been working in the audio-visual media for last 8 years. She has worked as a script writer for films on cultural and linguistic documentation of 11 tribes of Sikkim (a MHRD project), a film on Sambhu Mitra, the theatrologist (a MHRD project, the script was awarded by IDPA), and a film ‘A Ray of Hope’ commissioned by PSBT. She has worked as assistant director for nearly 40 films commissioned by MHRD, FD, PRI and others. Gender sensitivity and human rights having been her area of interest, she has directed documentaries that have been awarded in MIFF in Mumbai and in Barcelona Intl Film Fest. She is involved with the Shishu Kishore Akademi and Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival for last 4 years.
